I am trying to connect my macbook to a Toshiba LCD TV with a DVI cable and HDMI converter?

when I set the HDMI input 2, which is where the cable is plugged into the back of the TV is not on the tv .. What am I doing wrong

Have to tell the laptop video output to TV. Switch to a mode of presentation. You should be able to find a key on the keyboard that does that, usually one of the sub-options in the "F # "Keys. If you can not find it, look at the screen house or something.
