i have a samsung series 6 lcd tv and samsung dvd/home theatre system (model ht-tz 325)?

my system (as above) is connected thru hdmi cable and want my tv sound to come through my surround sound with my digital optical cable how can i do this?

If you have an HD cable box just run an optical cable straight from the box into your receiver and choose that input for sound. Leave your HDMI into the tv for pic and turn off the tv’s sound.
