Can I use TFT technology for televisions?

I was comparing the screen of my cell phone, Samsung Access (TFT LCD), a my LCD TV (LG 37 "720). I saw clearly see the pixels on the TV, but looking at my phone, I could not see the hard edges. Now, you can use the technology used on my phone and make a larger screen, say 37 "out of it? If so, why arent manufacturers do it? My phone has 320×240 pixels (2.25 "screen) and my tv is only 1280×720 pixels (but in a 37" screen). That means that my TV is 12 times pixels than my cell, but still 16.4 times bigger than him. In theory, I should be able to fit more pixels on my television. Si TFT LCD high-resolution screen that the LED or OLED screens?
