What is the cheapest way to watch TV channels in HD?

Like many people today have an HDTV and now want to know what is the cheapest way of watching TV channels in HD at the moment we only have a basic Sky package and Sky box base, with the jump in price up to Sky + HD seems a little extreme. If someone could give me any advice on this as I like to be watching in HD at the time of the next few years World Cup.
