HD Receiver?

I recently purchased a new HDTV. When i watch shows on Dish the quality is pretty bad, shows that its at 480i SD. If u purchase a HD receiver so that i can hook up the red,blue,green cables instead of regular red white yellow. Would i be able to get 1080i picture to get nicer quality? Also how much is a HD receiver for dish? And would i need to pay the $20 extra a month just to get 60 HD channels, will the quality not be decent with just a HD receiver?

If you already purchased a HDTV, it is likely that you have the receiver already in the tv. The way to access the free HD is with a HD antenna. The costs vary but look into a good one for over the air HD. Your dish should be able to bring in Digital channels, but if you are using composite cabels than all you are going to get is SD (Standard Definition), check to see what other cables it uses, it may have HDMI outlets already and all you need then are the right cables. Since HDMI carries both picture and sound. There also should be digital audio outs on you dish for better sound, when you use component cables for the picture (RGB).
Don’t try and buy a hd receiver if you don’t need it.
