3D technology is impressive, but is it ready for our homes?

3D TV is a work in progress and will be developed slowly as a mainstream product. However, there two market segments that can be taken quickly. The first is the game. 3D games offer an incredibly intense experience. The other is the adult film industry. Sources tell me that the X-rated movie studios are the largest buyer of equipment for television 3D movie-making. The sad reality is that the adult industry was the first great wave of video sales. It is very possible unity of the first wave of 3D TVs, too.

A mass adoption in the United Kingdom, however, still seems a way out. It is simply not ready for prime time. There is a lot of 3D TV today, and although there will be an increase in 3D sports and nature programs over the next 12-18 months, I have the impression that 3D TV will remain a work in progress for the next three to four years. During that time, companies will be teaching professionals how best to shoot in 3D and companies begin to specialize and begin producing quality content.

The technology is well now, but only get better. As more and more 3D content goes mainstream, too so will the adoption of 3D TV. Who knows, maybe you do not even need 3D glasses for when he gets home.
