What resolution will PLAYSTATION 3 games be on my 37inch 1080i VIZIO TV?

my TV supports 1080i, 720p, 480p, and 480i.

usually the best results for 1080i panels are for the onscreen content to be shown in 720p.

In the playstation menu go to display configuring and choose the hdmi output settings and then set to 720p for output.

1080i can also be an excellent source and is about 1 percent more detailed, but the drawback about 1080i output is that it works on it’s full potential when there’s very little motion on screen, or in other words, when the onscreen picture has slow movement that’s where 1080i works best showing it’s full detail.

720p on the other hand offers decent clarity but is better with fast motion than 1080i.
Another argument to support 720p is that it’s usually the number one choice of digital high definition broadcasting for sports channels if they are to broadcast in hd.

720p is also an excellent setting for games with it’s good motion handling and the way it retains detail in fast images. It’s definitely the best digital output for tv’s ranging from 720p to 1080i.

Most playstation 3 games are made around the 720p format and by setting your ps3′s hdmi setting to 720p out, this should optimize your viewing experience for the best performing image for games on your tv.
